Information about Joanna
I have been a primary school teacher for over 30 years, Until recently I worked full time and covered all age groups from nursery to year 6 inclusive. I was SENCO in a large primary school for a number of years and have also lead in maths. I have been tutoring for over10 years now and have had students from the age of 5 up to and including those in Y11. My interests outside of education include music and crafts.
Availability: Monday to Friday from 4pm and weekends (although I am currently fully booked). Also available during the day for home schooling or those older than school age.
Having experienced online tuition recently with the situation we found ourselves in I now offer this as well as face to face, although I do feel that face to face is more effective.
I do not travel.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been in education for 30+ years in a variety of primary schools and with a variety of tutees. I have taught children throughout this range and my classes have included children with special educational needs, those who are gifted and talented and those who are working within the expected level. My management roles have included being subject lead in mathematics and also as SENCo.
I have also tutored children from 5 to 16 in primary subjects, mathematics, English and science at KS3. I have also worked at GCSE in maths and english with students who have mild to medium learning difficulties. I have gained a diploma in educational psychology, and, through Newbury College, a Level 2 and level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism as well as a level 2 on understanding dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties .
My tuition successes have included a 100% record at getting children into independent schools, with 2 gaining scholarships, as well as year 6 children who have achieved higher than school expectations in their SATS
