Information about Noel
Case examples (Mathematics):
-Pre-GCSE: One of my students didn`t like mathematics, had low confidence in his abilities. Within two sessions the situation could be turned around. I focused on making him understand the logic behind the examples. Once he got the logic it was easy for him to solve further exercises. He became more and more curious about mathematics the more sessions we had. His confidence increased and started to get As for his homeworks and tests.
-GCSE: My mentee was determined to do well in her GCSE but was unsure in her abilities. I created a plan to train her for every possible exercise type that can come up on exam day. Our training and her determination to succeed yielded great results, she scored over 90% for her GCSE.
-A-Levels: Another student of mine had been good in Maths and did well on his GCSE, but found challenging the complexity of A-levels. My systematic approach prepared him to tackle a range of A-level problems effectively. He achieved A* and got into Cambridge.
My teaching style is simple and effective:
1) Goal setting: I work with the student and parents to identify a clear goal
2) Planning: Test students capabilities to setup a schedule how we can reach our goal
3) Learning: Explaining concepts in a simple, understandable way tailored to the student, making sure (s)he grasps the logic behind
4) Practice: We solve specific examples tailored to the level that is doable but challenging for the student, to make sure there is ample progression towards our goal
5) Evaluation: I provide continuous feedback to my students and their family
Motivation:
Even as a child I had strong desire to learn about the world around me. My desire for learning persisted and led me to complete a BSc in Economics at University College London (UCL). During my time at UCL I focused on developing professionally. Therefore, I joined and led various student societies and partook in internship programs. As a result, I had chance to work on a social impact project in Kenya and at famous corporations; Google and HSBC. Upon graduation I joined BlackRock as an Investment Analyst. The role at BlackRock prepared me well for a Masters degree in Finance, which is what I currently study at London Business School.
Motto:
Learn, Learn, Learn and dream big my grandfather used to say when dropping me at school in my 1st grade. I am still thankful for these words as these brought me a long way.
It wasnt an easy journey, there was a lot I had to figure out on my own. I worked my way up from 24% in A-level Mathematics practice exams to 95% at the final exam. You probably feel similar. You might be struggling with a topic, or you are ahead of the curve and dont feel challenged enough at school and want to advance yourself. I am here to help you reach your goals.
