Information about Edward
I have a joint honours degree from the University of Manchester in Mathematics and Spanish, during which time I spent a year abroad studying at University in Spain. After placing in the top 14% in the GAMSAT (medical school entrance exams), I am now studying in my 2nd year of graduate medicine at St. George`s, University of London. I got over 80% in my recent practical exam which is moderated by healthcare professionals and academics.
I have studied a breadth of subjects from Pure Mathematics and Clinical Medical Sciences, to Spanish Language and Latin American Culture. This diversity gives me a teaching style that can adapt to any style of learner, whether you consider yourself scientific or not.
In my spare time I enjoying playing rugby, and was recently part of the St. George`s Hospital Medical School rugby team to win the United Hospitals Cup, which the oldest rugby competition in the world.
Interesting facts: I have worked from the jungles of Bolivia with Jaguars and Pumas in animal conservation, to southern Spains Plaza de Toros filming documentaries on Bullfighting!
Availability: most weekdays after 5pm and weekends
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have experience teaching and mentoring children aged 10-17 in an after school homework club in Spanish, a non native language for me. This required both patience and an adjustable approach to teaching, altering language and simplifying explanations to best suit the students.
At St. George`s I am currently working as an accredited Peer Tutor, teaching Clinical procedures and skills to younger students, through the university.
My wide range of expertise gives me a unique advantage, since I am able to tackle tasks from both a scientific and non-scientific approach.
The best results are produce when you are having fun, so I always aim to make sessions enjoyable and relaxed to foster an environment where mistakes are not feared, but understood to be all part of the learning process.
I am patient in my approach and tailor my teaching to suit you as an individual. I look to encourage confidence in my students, and supply you with learning tools that will be applicable to all areas of your current and future studies.
