Information about Melanie
I am a friendly, supportive qualified primary teacher with a first class degree in psychology. I have high standards and like to teach in a creative and fun way, whilst always ensuring good progress in each lesson. I enjoy getting to know my pupils and finding out about their likes, skills and needs. This helps me to engage them in their learning and tailor my lessons to suit their individual needs. I really enjoy working with children and seeing them grow in confidence as their skills improve. I believe that it is also crucial to put effort and time into building a childs self-esteem as well as working on their academic skills.
I have wide experience of teaching across KS1 and 2. I have prepared children for KS1 and 2 SATS test. I am also experienced in teaching phonics and preparing children for the Y1 phonics test.
I have worked with lots of children needing a wide range of learning support and have undertaken training to help me. These include children with ASD, speech and language problems, dyslexia and emotional and behavioural issues.

Melanie tutored our year 4 son covering the literacy assignments that his school had set during the last 4 weeks of lock down as well as some additional work that she bought. Up to that point we had been having a daily battle with English, but with Melanie our son was engaged, talking and enjoying English, which was nothing short of a miracle. Instead of one word answers he was happily chatting about the work, answering questions and was writing over a page of quality prose while enjoying the process! Melanie was calm, kind and connected with our son. I would recommend her.
