Information about Amy
Hi, I`m Amy and I have just graduated from Durham university with a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry and Earth Sciences). In September I will start studying for a Masters degreee in Advanced Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. I absolutely love Chemistry and I also find teaching it very rewarding as its a great chance for me to share my passion with my students!
Despite this, I know Chemistry can be difficult to get your head around and revising it can be very overwhelming as there is so much content and it`s not easy! Having been through the IB system myself, I am very empathetic to the huge workload and the necessity for good time management skills. I also have lots of helpful resources from my secondary school, which is the largest and top independent IB school in the UK.
Alongside my first class degree, I have achieved 44 points at IB and 11 A* at GCSE. I feel like my results show I really do know how to score the top marks and that I am very capable of teaching a wide range of subjects.
I have previous experience of tutoring and my student went on to go from a B/C`s to A*`s in only a couple of months! I am organised, enthusiastic and patient, and I promise I will help you as much as I can! I am willing not only to help with explaining difficult topics, but also to help with exam and revision technique, as I feel these are just as important.
Availability: Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons/evenings.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I have over 200 hours of tutoring experience and have tutored both online and face-to-face. I have previous experience tutoring a GCSE student in almost all his subjects and also have experience tutoring relatives and friends at IB and GCSE level. More recently, I have tutored a student twice weekly for a year in Maths and Chemistry GCSE.
I tailor each lesson to the individuals needs and make sure they fully understand every point in the syllabus and that there are no gaps in their knowledge. In addition, we will go through past papers to make sure they know how to answer the questions to gain every mark.
