Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I have tutored for Explore Learning, Big Fish Tutors and privately, tutoring groups of up to 6 pupils at once, ranging in age from 4 years old to those doing their GCSEs and A Levels, for 3 years. I have volunteered to assist primary school pupils at Fulham Primary School`s Autistic Unit (the Rhinos) for 6 months. In addition, I led a brain dissection practical for secondary school pupils, guided AS students in synthesizing various esters and taught them nomenclature, bonding and different formulas for representing molecules in extra-curricular classes at my former school.
Through these experiences I realized the best way to assist a student in fulfilling their potential is to show them that both the subject and the act of learning are hugely enjoyable and rewarding. Therefore, I aim to develop not only a student`s understanding of Biology, but also to fuel their passion for it. I will achieve this by utilizing various techniques to suit the individual student (for example: diagrams, power points, regular quizzes), all the while explaining the applications of the subject matter. My technique is based on positive reinforcement, and I heap praise whenever my students succeed.
