Information about Chris
Hi! My name`s Chris, and I focus on teaching maths (GCSE), computer science and programming/coding (at all levels). All of my tutoring is conducted online. As well as computer science generally, I also cover machine learning principles, and research methods (at degree-level, masters, and PhD). I have knowledge and experience in producing high-quality visualisations, using programming tools including R Shiny.
Currently, I work as a data scientist in Leeds. I hold a PhD in computational science, specialising in using computational methods to study how the human brain functions.
The programming languages I cover: R, Python, MATLAB and Scratch. I also have some experience in using Java, C and Prolog.
Availability: I am available at the Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons/evenings, depending on current availability. I tutor online, using a combination of a graphics tablet and screen-sharing.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been tutoring for many years. I have experience with working with pupils of various ages, including primary school level (teaching the Scratch programming language), GCSE (maths) and beyond (computer science, degree-level). I also have experience in working with younger pupils, teaching the foundational programming language Scratch.

Chris was a very capable and helpful tutor for our daughter. He was able to give expert advice for the coding for her computer science A-level project. He put in extra time to research and support her with Godot. He was friendly, easy to understand and picked up quickly where she was up to with the project.

Chris is a fantastic teacher who specialises in computer programs and coding languages, specifically in my case he was able to greatly help me out with the R coding module in Politics. I was very happy with his structured approach to teaching and his breakdown of complex problems when dealing with multiple variables and with more lessons I was able to build on my knowledge of the R program. Overall very satisfied with his teaching.
