Information about Paul
Hello Tutees!
My name is Paul. I graduated from the university of Bath in 2012 with a 1st Class Honours Master`s degree in Mathematics (MMath).
Since September 2012 I have lived in London and have worked on Payments Technology transformation Programmes within the Financial Services.
I hope that I will be the ideal tutor to help you with any problems you face in your studies in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (A grade A level student in these subjects).
I also have a passion for languages and offer to teach English to student`s who face this as a second/non-native language. I myself am learning Spanish (Intermediate level) and Japanese (Beginner level) and believe that languages help drive collaboration and creativity amongst communities.
There is also the potential for me to help with study and job application skills where I have begun to build my knowledge and experience through working in partnership with an up and coming career advisory services company.
Availability: My availability is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday weekday evenings (7-9pm) and weekends.
My preference would be to provide tutoring on either Saturday or Sunday morning (8:30am - 11:30am) as I can guarantee that there is no risk of my weekday 8am - 5pm full time job impacting on a weekend tutoring slot.
I am based near Bromley-by-Bow tube station so have the option of tube(s) & DLR to travel to your location. I have a zone 1-2 Oyster travel card so any travel outside of this region will require discussion on payment of travel costs. If you are not based near these transport links then we will discuss by mutual agreement a meeting point.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I am a tutor helping undergraduates & postgraduates with their job application progression at an career advisory company.
I have also taught first year and second year University students in maths tutorial classes.
Provided several one to one sessions to improve and build the confidence of a number of English as a foreign language speakers (previous students have hailed from Peru, China and Spain)
My approach is to help bring confidence to students and to also lay out a clear road map of incremental improvement. I like to set short, medium and long term goals with my tutees so that we can establish what the current focus should be, what we want to tackle in the near term and what the larger more strategic aims my student is looking to accomplish.
I also like to tailor my teaching to suit the teaching preferences of my student taking a little time to get to know my student and what methods work for them mean that I can frame the content in a way that is more accessible to the student and allows them to establish frameworks of learning that they can use to continue and extend their studying in a particular subject.
