Esme

Esme is my daughter (I am Beth). She was doing quite well in Maths end of year exam in Year 7 with 78%. This put her in set 3. In Year 8, things did not go so well for her and she got 50% in the end of year exam. She was put into set 4 for Year 9. She has end of topic tests in which she gets anything from 100% to 65%. Being 14, she likes to be independent so doesn`t want regular sessions again in Maths. She may change her mind when she starts GCSEs. With regard to the sciences, she gets very good results in Chemistry with occasional blips, some excellent results in Physics but with bigger blips and Biology is somewhere below these. As for Spanish and French, her teachers seem to have found her class very difficult and much time has been spent controlling disruptive behaviour. Esme therefore feels that she has learnt little this year.

For all the reasons above, I am therefore looking at the moment for several sessions in each of the above topics, particularly Biology, Chemistry and Physics from 13 May to 5 June 2024. I appreciate that a few sessions (maybe 4) is not so enticing - regular lessons are much better for cashflow. I look on these sessions as a way for Esme to gauge whether she would like and might need more regular coaching in Year 10.
