Hello, my name is Shanice!

I am a Private Tutor and have previously worked as a Business Tutor for a private school and a Business Lecturer at a Further Education college. I have tutored Business Studies after work on-and-off over the past few years. Also, I have tutored English as a Foreign Language and Maths both online and in person. I have a level 5 teaching qualification and a 120 hour TEFL certificate.

Me in a nutshell: I have a degree in Management and Entrepreneurship (Business), ran a small handmade jewellery business for several years and did TV and film extras work for 7 years (see if you can spot me in Eastenders!).

My favourite hobbies are karaoke and dancing around when no one is watching. In my head I`m amazing, in reality I`m not so good haha.

My number one aim in education is to improve everyone`s confidence. Anyone can improve or learn a new skill or language, but you need the confidence to excel in it. Whilst at college, I saw a massive improvement in my grades as my confidence grew. My teachers encouraged me every step of the way. That is why I do what I do. I want to help people the way I was helped.

I`m very flexible so we can decide together what each lesson will be like. Typically, I like to use Google Meet for online lessons with PowerPoint or an alternative visual aid. However, I am happy to use a different platform and/or other resources if they`re not your preference. Your lessons are about you and your learning. You can be the leader.

I like to do a range of activities and play (relevant educational) games, like Kahoot, to make learning more enjoyable, but we can stick with traditional classes if preferred.

Learning is a process and it can be fun, even the things you hate! I love learning, it’s one of life’s treasures. It does not have to be in a traditional setting like a school or a traditional subject, it comes in all forms and can occur every second of every day. I don’t want to get too philosophical but that is why I enjoy teaching and tutoring. I learn as much from my students as they learn from me and every day is exciting.

Availability: Please note, I am only currently available to tutor online.

I am currently travelling around Asia free as a bird, so I can be very flexible with the lesson time and day.

In terms of the subjects I offer, please enquire if you would like a subject or level that isn`t listed as I may have done it before and would be happy to tutor it again.

Progress Coach - 1 year (2020-2021), Croydon College, in-person. This was pretty much a PSHE teaching role combined with progress coaching.
