Information about Martina
Following my success in my GCSEs and A-Levels, I graduated from the University of Reading in 2019 with a B.A. (Hons.) degree in Spanish and English Literature, the first of which I had studied for almost a decade in the UK and in Mexico (University of the Americas Puebla, 2017) and Cuba (University of Havana, 2018) in my penultimate year. Over the past five years, I have taught people of all ages and abilities both in-person and online as both a schoolteacher and a private tutor. As of now, I tutor exclusively online; however, as this is technically face-to-face, my students find it is no different to traditional one-to-one tuition. Last year, several of my clients achieved A* in GCSE Spanish (as did I) after initially being predicted Cs and Ds. I take great pride in my work and feel privileged to be able to watch my pupils progress academically and achieve fluency in a foreign tongue.

Experience: As of April 2016, I tutor with [contact detail removed] and, as of October 2016, with [contact detail removed]. Throughout the summer of 2018, I tutored online under Plovdiv-based agency Cambridge Centre. As of October 2018, I tutor with Tutor Hunt. This year, I extended my services to [contact detail removed]. Having worked with people of all ages and abilities in my five years as a tutor - from primary school pupils to pensioners looking to buy holiday homes abroad - I have accumulated enough experience to give you/your child what you/(s)he need(s). I encourage every new student to tell me how much Spanish (s)he already knows prior to our first meeting;; this allows me to plan a more focused lesson, saving us both time. Should my student be a complete beginner, we will kick things off with the present tense and - in an exercise which serves as something of an ice-breaker - introduce ourselves using our newly conjugated verbs. Being trilingual, I understand how challenging (and oftentimes frustrating) learning a new language can be for a native English speaker - especially as English grammar is seldom taught in UK schools;; I therefore draw constant parallels between Spanish and English, identifying cognates, patterns and rhymes which jog the memory and facilitate learning. Everything covered during the lesson I ensure to recap both at the end and at the beginning of the next one;; this way, my student is confident in his/her newfound knowledge and ready to move on to the next level. In the meantime, (s)he can revise with the help of the notes, tables, examples, exercises and links I`ve forwarded him/her. My mission is to make learning a new language both easy and enjoyable.
