Information about Manav
I give one-to-one tutoring and small group tutoring (currently both online & physical)
Education is dependent on learning, so ensuring that you are keen to learn your subjects is one of my key goals - without this, attempting to get 9s at GCSE or A*s at A Level can be tiresome.
I tutor in three main steps:
1. Content-based learning - at this stage, the topic is taught through a series of simplistic diagrams, hand-written notes, slides and discussions with you - the last medium being the most important as it allows you to engage with you topic, hence you are more likely to remember the content!
2. Exam-based learning - at this stage, we do two things: a) look at the topic we have just learnt through with a focus on the exams, and b) practise, practise, practise!
Each exam question attempted is either a `Mechanics` or `Purpose` question. A `Mechanics` exam question is one that focuses on recall of knowledge, and a `Purpose` exam question is one that focuses on applying this knowledge to foreign/known contexts - being accurate in your responses to both types of questions is vital to acing your exams!
At this stage, we will also reflect on each question, taking advantage of a simplistic method of reviewing your response to exam questions to better your exam technique
3. Reflection & Conclusion - at this stage, we will discuss your thoughts on the topic, any final questions you may have and rate your confidence in the topic along a scale
I record your confidence in each topic and how well you did in each exam question attempted: this way, you can see your progress in a subject without having to track it yourself! (Other information is also recorded, which is also available upon request)
