Jackie

I specialise in teaching English to all ages and abilities up to GCSE level. I am a fully qualified teacher and have been teaching adults and 16 – 18 year old students on vocational programmes for 10 years. I have also taught adults with learning difficulties including dyslexia.
I previously worked in the telecommunications business so have a strong awareness of the importance of English skills in the workplace.
I have a calm and supportive teaching style. I believe that this approach builds a student’s confidence and allows them to work to the best of their ability. I also create a personalised programme which will address a student’s particular needs and use past papers to ensure a student is prepared for the exam and this again will build confidence and take the fear out of taking exams. I strongly believe in working on the basics such as spelling, punctuation and grammar which is now gaining more importance in English exams across all the age groups.

Experience: I have worked for a private training provider, West Sussex Adult Education Service and an FE College delivering English Functional Skills and GCSE. I have also worked on full time programmes developing skills in the workplace and mentoring students during work experience.
