Information about Alison
I have a strong love of languages which was kindled during my own school and university years.
To me the students` knowledge and understanding of grammar is key to their success in the language and this is often the area in which they may be struggling so I do put an emphasis on this.
I make sure that I respond to the specific demands of the syllabus. I try to make the classes varied and interesting, seeking out interesting and relevant resources and addressing the four skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing but with an emphasis on the areas where students need particular help and encouragement..
Availability: I am available 4-7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays
and 4-6pm on Tuesdays and Fridays
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have taught in state and private schools: O`level, GCSE and A` level in both French and Spanish.
More recently I have tutored in my own home, preparing students for GCSE and A` level exams with a special emphasis on the oral component. I have been delighted with their results and also surprised that some of these students, who came to me because they were struggling, have gone on to study the languages at university.
I also have taught and continue to teach languages to adult students.
