Information about Dimitrios
I am a medically qualified Lecturer and a graduate of UCL (Ph.D.) and Cambridge University (Masters) with a strong background in Statistics, Research Methods, Epidemiology, and Public Health. Upon gaining a degree in Medicine, I followed an academic pathway which culminated in my obtaining an MSc in Paediatric Research with distinction and gaining a Scholarship at the University of Cambridge to study Epidemiology. I subsequently spent five years working as a Research Associate and completing my PhD.
I have over 10 years of experience working in academia in various roles (research design and management, statistical analysis of population-based datasets, teaching, and assessment) across top UK Universities (UCL, Universities of Cambridge, Bristol). I also have experience working as a clinician in the NHS in both adult Medicine and Paediatrics. I have a keen interest in research, simple explanation of statistics, systematic reviews, critical appraisal of evidence, epidemiology, and public health.
I have a liberal, interactive and flexible tutoring style which is tailored to the needs of my students. I emphasise the need to understand the big picture before getting into the details of a project. I focus on developing time management and study skills, which will help tutees to help themselves, in addition to working on subject proficiency. I think it`s important that an educator is enthusiastic about the subject they teach in order to engage their students.
