Information about Peter
Hello, my name is Peter. I am a piano and cello teacher living in Reading. Originally from Belfast, and graduate of Queen`s University Belfast, I have tutored music in schools and privately for over 9 years.
Before moving to England, I was an organ scholar at St Peter`s Cathedral for three years and won the Barbour Cup at the Holywood Music Festival.
I am a passionate musician and educationalist. For the past two years, I have been the Education Governor for one of Northern Ireland`s largest primary schools.
I was a peripatetic music teacher in a number of primary schools in Belfast & Lisburn for over 5 years. All my students were successful in their ABRSM exams and have continued their studies.
My approach to every student is different. Each student will have a different way of learning to the best of their ability. However, I take a relaxed approach with younger students as I believe pushing them too much at an early age can be detrimental to their love of music. The more a student enjoys the lessons and playing, the easier it is to encourage them to practice.
In addition to this, I am a Geography teacher and tutor at a secondary level. Another passion of mine, I have been teaching from KS2 to A level. Having studied my PGCE at the University of Reading, it is recognised as one of the UK`s top Geography teacher training schools.
I currently teach both Edexcel and AQA, having been an Examiner for both boards.. Being an Examiner has given me great insight into how papers are constructed and how to teach students to write efficiently in their exam.
Geography lessons take place online unless requested. The online platform at Tutorful allows us to share documents and have a fully interactive lesson.

Experience: I was a peripatetic music teacher in a number of primary schools in Belfast and Lisburn for over 5 years. All my students were successful in their ABRSM exams and have continued their studies. Last year, I completed my PGCE at Reading University. This allowed me to thoroughly understand how to adapt my teaching to the various learning styles of different students. It also gave me invaluable insight into how to motivate students and encourage their desire to learn (and practice!).
